Very disjointed and terrible communication. It started with the recruiter not showing up to our first scheduled meeting and texting me that night that he lost track of time. We rescheduled and I made it to an interview with the hiring manager. That went well and I went through the panel interview. Everything went very well through all of these steps and everyone I interviewed with was very professional and nice. The recruiter, however, had very poor communication skills and would constantly miss his own self imposed deadlines. For example, after the panel interview he told me they had consensus the next day so I should hear that afternoon. Not a word so I had to follow up a couple days later. They went with another candidate that had more experience which is completely understandable. However, I was told I did very well in the panel interview and that they had several more positions coming open that they liked me for. A couple were under the same hiring manager and a couple were under another hiring manager. He said he was getting things finalized and would contact me in a couple days. A week goes by so I follow back up and meetings had been delayed but no worries I would be in front of the hiring manager or CAO within a week and he stated not to take any other job offers without giving them a heads up first. Another week goes by so I follow back up and now the recruiter is fairly obviously frustrated with me and short saying he will reach out if he has anything to tell me. 3 weeks go by so I follow up one last time and now there is no response. Overall, just very unprofessional for a company that claims their culture is everything to them. If it had ended after the panel interview I would have totally understood going with a more experienced candidate, but why lead me on for another month and a half about more positions they liked me for and given me such positive feedback only to completely stop responding and clearly string me along for no reason? The recruiter constantly stated they were trying to hire for a ton of positions as quickly as possible but everything with them takes way longer than any reasonable expectation. The job I originally applied for is even still listed as an open position. They seem extremely disorganized and don’t treat people the way their culture would have you believe. I was excited about the prospect of joining Rivian, but I am now left feeling disrespected by the entire process.
