      Business Development Manager Interview

      Sep 7, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Rokt (New York, NY) in Sep 2018

      Interview

Phone interview which went well. They moved forward to the next step of creating a slide deck presentation with user case scenario with a prospect. They never mentioned what type of slide deck format they are looking for, but only explained this is a second pitch to the prospect. Not recieving the right guideline for what type of sale presentation they are looking for (point of contact immediately told me the very same day of my interview that they dont want to waste my time by coming in and thank me for putting effort in the power point). Hello you already wasted my time taking 2 days off from work to reschedule and basically rejected me the day of my interview. I already told them i have been in sales for very long time but not in the marketing world. They explained they are looking for something different and not necessary the marketing world but someone who can perform complex sales to c-level executives. That what i do and which is why i moved forward to the next step. You accept that and take me to the next step, but then expect marketing type format of a slide deck. Hello why dont you tell me that. A slide deck doesn't sell your product, its a visual evidence to your presentation when you are trying to dissect and understand the prospects problem and what we can offer to solve it. How you are looking for sales people from totally outside the marketing world, but not understand there are different strategies to sales. Advice to the CEO,CRO treat potential employees and current employees like human beings. Dont waste their time by doing projects for you, rescheduling interviews and also cancelling the interview the same day. They are people, they have commitments. You are a start up, your company should know better that your employees is what will drive success. Please dont mistreat people, its wrong and unacceptable. And if you ask a candidate to work on a project, out of respect to their effort let them present it. Dont be rude!!!

I want to express my disappointment to learn that your interview experience at Rokt wasn’t valuable to you. Any feedback is valued at Rokt as we’re always looking to improve as a business - we have responded to your points raised below. Our hiring process is developed to try to test both technical and cultural fit, and therefore it is tailored to the key requirements of each role. In the case of business development, we give all of our candidates the same brief, a process we created 12 months ago. In reviewing the materials submitted, we look for certain elements that demonstrate comprehension of the brief, including but not limited to: setting clear objectives, demonstrating customer knowledge, layout, presentation of a clear value proposition, utilisation of information extracted from our website, and clear next steps. We typically give candidates five to seven days to prepare for the presentation and encourage candidates to come back to us with clarifying questions. We are disappointed to hear you were informed of an interview cancellation on the same day, as we take candidate experience seriously. That being said, we take your feedback on the process and clarification of timelines, and will ensure our team address this, to also allow them review time prior to setting the next interview. Our employees are our most valuable asset and we are continually trying to improve their experience from hiring to on-boarding to day to day culture. We thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, to allow us to continue to enhance our hiring processes and maintain our focus on candidate (and future employee) experience.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Rokt (Sydney) in Jul 2022

      Interview

The process was set across 5 seperate interviews. Although this might be seen as a long process, I believe it was important to align with what Rokt believes to aim to recruit the best possible talent. The best part of the process was Rokt's HR team and their open lines of communication. At no point was I left without knowledge of the status of my process for longer than 12/24 hours post each interview which helped to move the process forward quickly.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rokt in Jun 2021

      Interview

Had a great initial interview with an internal recruiter that covered the basics of explaining the role and the company background and some basic questions about my career experience. Second interview (video) was with the hiring manager who felt like he was distracted and barely paying attention to the conversation. He asked a few questions related to how I handle different sales situations, but seemed like he was really just going through the motions.
