      Litigation Paralegal Interview

      Nov 21, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ropes & Gray (Boston, MA) in Nov 2018

      Interview

Had a phone interview with a nice gentleman from HR and within a few days was contacted to schedule an in person meeting with the team. The HR guy first suggested a few days and then later (after I pressed him for a final date) suggested I come in for an interview during a Holiday week. I agreed and asked that he get me the final date as soon as possible so that I could book travel (I was coming from out of town). By the time he got back to me it was less than a week prior to the interview date and the interview was set for three days prior to a major holiday so my travel expense was considerable. I met with three people. The first girl was a litigation paralegal and was friendly, sweet and I felt as though we got along well. Then I had a skype interview with a manager of the team located in another office. This seemed friendly and conversational. This interview was cut short when the Supervisor, my third interview, interrupted suddenly. I was not able to ask the second person any questions for this reason. The final interview, with the Supervisor, felt uncomfortable and awkward, as though she judged me from the second she walked in the room. When I asked her about next steps she seemed confused by the question. As others have mentioned, it seemed as though they were looking for the right fit and I felt like I had it...until the third woman walked in. The only positive note was I was called the next day by the original HR person and informed they had gone with someone else. I feel as though my money and time was wasted.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Ropes & Gray (Boston, MA) in Aug 2024

      Interview

Talked with a lot of interesting people. Most were very open and conversational creating a more relaxed interview atmosphere. One just had a set of questions with not much conversation. All interviews were via zoom, overall good experience.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Ropes & Gray (Boston, MA)

      Interview

The interview process was fairly streamlined- beginning with a phone screen and moving to an in-person interview in the Boston office (which only took about a week to schedule). Everything was on time and the interviewers were nice and well-prepared. Seemed like it was mostly for fit over anything else. I thought that the in-person interview went well, then I didn't hear back for 6 weeks. I sent several follow-up emails and even called the office in an attempt to get an answer. Upon finally hearing that I did not get the offer, I sent a follow-up email to one of my interviewers for feedback. I didn't hear anything from him. After taking a full day off from work to come interview in the office, I found that the hiring process with Ropes was incredibly disrespectful to the applicant. If this is a reflection of how they treat employees, I'm glad I didn't get an offer.

I interviewed at Ropes & Gray

      Interview

The first step was a phone call, lasted about 20 minutes, felt rushed by the interviewer. The interviewer told me at the beginning that it would be brief, but there were only a handful of questions asked and I felt as though I did not have the time or platform to present myself fully and accurately.
