The interviewer was a great experience. But the experience with the recruiter was very upsetting! He contacted me via Linkedin and treated me like he was recruiting for an entry level position. He didn't have any knowledge about the actual position. It wasn't even a great fit for me which I kept pointing out but he forced me to play up certain parts of my history and said things like "they're going to want to know who you know" and "this job is hot, we need to move fast" when I told him I'm in the middle of a big move and can't meet with them the next day. It seemed like he had rehearsed lines from American recruiters on what he should sound like but in an aggressive/1990's/lack of E.Q. kind of way. I even said if they are rushing me then it's not the right fit. Then on the day of the interview, he calls me 15 mins before its about to start and tries to "prep me" of which he does not even know where to begin as I could tell he's very junior or clueless. Most professional recruiters would have scheduled a prep session in advance. Then when I get on the call, he starts recording it and tells me instead of asking my permission. He stays on the interview as a silent listener which is strange to me and it does not make me feel comfortable while I'm sharing things about my recent employment and performance. The hiring manager was an absolute gem and we had a great conversation. It wasn't the right fit for me but we exchanged some emails afterwards and decided to stay in touch. I'm not sure how to communicate what a terrible recruiter they have though without sounding negative. I texted the recruiter afterwards to tell him I did not appreciate his unprofessional conduct and he did not even bother to respond.
