After being contacted by a recruiter trying to poach talent from local competitors I went through by far one of the worst interview processes I have had with a tier 1 vendor.
I had a great call with the recruiter where we both went out of the call happy and with a clear overview of the expectations for the role and the remainder of the interview process.
After being pushed from one team manager to another about three weeks later I finally had a 2nd step setup with the "right" person.
During the day of the interview the manager was over 40 min late to the call and only jumped on after I sent her an email. She jumped on the call, never apologized for being late, and kicked it off right away without any real introduction. What she told me about the role and package was far from what the recruiter had told me and so my interest was lost pretty much ASAP. The call was very rushed since the manager "didn't have time" and had to go into another meeting and so I had no real opportunity to talk through my qualifications or even ask questions about the role.
After the 2nd step I was asked (over email) to prepare a presentation and a business case, where to be honest most of it was quite irrelevant for the role and mostly about SAP corporate history.
My guess is that this would've taken about 20h to complete, which in general is not that bad and tends to be inline with what to expect when talking to other vendors in the industry. Yet I wasn't really up for spending that time after my experience in the interview process.
I decided to stop pursuing the position at this step due to the negative experience so far and the general vibe about the department and management. I had two top talent peers who where contacted around the same time and they both also had a very long and dragged out process where the information and expectations between the different interview steps was varying a lot. None of us decided to pursue the opportunities.
In the end I ended up having to wait weeks only to hear different things from different managers and the entire process was a complete waste of my time. A very unappreciative and disrespectful approach throughout most of the process, and from the looks of it I am not the only one who's gone through a similar experience during my interviews.
