Odd interview process. I had a screener with a paralegal, then recruiter screener, then hiring manager interview, and then a panel interview of 4 other team members. They ask behavioral questions. I did not understand why I had two screeners but the paralegal was very nice and pleasant. All team members were friendly, smart, and sharp. That said, the end result was disappointing. The recruiter verbally communicated an offer, but it was rescinded when I attempted to negotiate compensation. There were a few areas for improvement here — I was very clear on compensation requirements at the onset, and it looked like we were too far apart from the beginning. I wish the recruiter would have managed expectations better, and we could have just parted ways at the screener. It was quite a surprise to find out that the max base pay for this position was actually 20k less than the lowest number on my range. Additionally, I was upfront with the recruiter on another offer and the deadline for that offer. Recruiter informed me 1 day after my other offer’s deadline. The other company was accommodating so it worked out fine but I wish SAP’s recruiter was more respectful of my deadlines.
