I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Safeway (Calgary, AB) in Aug 2016
Interview
I applied online for General Clerk at Montgomery Safeway but the manager called a week later to tell me that the job is closed and that cashier, deli clerk and bakery clerk is opened. I told her I'm very much open to anything and we booked an interview 3 days after the phone call. During the phone call, she asked me my availability and the interview booking. I came into the interview, she was very friendly about it and we sat in the Starbucks seating area. She asked simple logic questions about customer service, my experience at Subway and then she hired me on the spot. I did the online food safety training and test, filled in some paperwork, and then she told me that her assistant manager will call me few days after orientation and training, since she had to leave for vacation. You have to make sure to be patient for your manager to call for training.

Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you want to work in the deli versus other departments?
It was very informative and I felt comfortable with the knowledge that my interview would be considered with the utmost thought. I did not land the position, but have no ill will, they were right in the deli did not suit me. A barista position was far more paletteable
pretty easy and straightforward tho didn't get the job. probably shouldve done more prep. didn't have much experience with deli work which may have been why i didn't get the job but oh well
