I applied online. I interviewed at Safeway (Thunder Bay, ON) in Aug 2016
Interview
I applied online 2 weeks prior to them calling me. When I got to the interview they asked me if I would be willing to work in the deli instead of being a cashier. I accepted. The staff in general are very nice, however there is one person in particular that I do not enjoy working with and have considered quitting because of the terrible experiences I've had while working with them. I think I will be quitting in the near future, as training is a bare minimum in the deli and I feel like I still know nothing after several shifts in order to do my job sufficiently and effectively. Applicants beware.
I submitted an application in store and got called in to do an in person interview. The manager was super easy to talk to and had been with the store a long time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you want to work in the deli versus other departments?
It was very informative and I felt comfortable with the knowledge that my interview would be considered with the utmost thought. I did not land the position, but have no ill will, they were right in the deli did not suit me. A barista position was far more paletteable
pretty easy and straightforward tho didn't get the job. probably shouldve done more prep. didn't have much experience with deli work which may have been why i didn't get the job but oh well
