Interview
I had an interesting experience with this company to say the least. I applied for this job in early October and received an email from a recruiter with a homework assignment approximately three weeks later to be completed before moving on to the next round. I spent over an hour carefully crafting my responses and submitting the assignment, and I then sent a follow up email to the recruiter letting her know it was done. After two weeks of radio silence I figured I hadn’t passed the first round with my assignment even though my responses were articulate and I had two years of experience in this role prior. Then to my surprise the recruiter sent an email and scheduled a phone screen. The woman who screened me was pleasant and I had a great conversation with her, and as a result I was moved to a virtual interview with two other team members over zoom. The first woman I spoke to was very nice and I felt that it went great. Unfortunately this is where my positive experiences with this company ended. When I spoke to the second interviewer my opinion changed for the worse. We were scheduled to speak for 30 minutes and she made it clear at the beginning of the call that she wasn’t willing to chat longer than 15. She was making negative faces the entire process on camera and looked annoyed and disinterested from the start. Her responses to me were cold and unenthused. I am not sure if I just caught her after a bad stressful day at work, but she did not seem happy. In spite of this, I felt like my responses to her were spot on, although she did not afford me time at the end to ask her questions and was abrupt in hopping off the zoom. I immediately sent a thank you note to the team, feeling unsure about the outcome due to the poor experience with the second interviewer, but still semi hopeful. Low and behold a couple weeks later, I received a fairly generic rejection. Perhaps I dodged a bullet given my interaction with the second interviewer. However, overall the candidate experience I had wasn’t great and could use some improvements.

Interview
Samsara has an amazing recruiting team. I had such a positive experience speaking to the recruiter and the managers. I felt so relaxed and at ease during my interview process, The entire time, the questions that I was asked felt like the team wanted to simply get to know me and hear my experience instead of feeling intimidated or being stressed about the next difficult question.
