I recently went through Samsara’s interview process for a Quality Program Manager. While the initial steps were well-organized, the experience left much to be desired, especially after I invested significant time and effort into completing a detailed assignment based on their real-world projects.
Pros:
The interviewers were engaged, and I received positive feedback during the presentation, which made me feel valued at the time.
The assignment allowed me to showcase my skills in real-world problem-solving, which was a good opportunity to demonstrate my expertise.
Cons:
After the final round, I was notified via a generic rejection email without specific feedback, despite my follow-ups with the recruiter.
The assignment seemed focused on Samsara’s actual business needs, which raises concerns about using interview assignments to gather ideas from experienced professionals without necessarily hiring.
Lack of transparency and feedback was disappointing, especially for a senior-level role. I believe candidates deserve clear communication, especially after investing significant time and effort.
Advice to Management: To improve the candidate experience, it would be helpful for Samsara to provide more transparency around how assignments are used and to ensure timely, constructive feedback is given to candidates who invest in the process. This would reflect positively on Samsara’s brand and show respect for candidates’ time and expertise.
