Awful. That is the only word. I received an email seemingly from a real human at the company, with three other HR reps copied, asking me to complete “video interview” questions. Not too bad right? WRONG!! I had to answer 10 questions which took up 2 hours of my life, and basically speak at my computer screen giving an overview of my resume and other information already collected when I applied. I hadn’t heard back from the company after a few weeks so I sent an email to the initial HR rep for an update and never heard back. I saw the job was reposted today and I was able to log in to my account and see I was “unsuccessful.” So the recruiter couldn’t have bothered to tell me that when I reached out!? Clearly does NOT care about candidates, and would prefer to put us through hoops before even granting us the common courtesy of human interaction.
Video interviews are AWFUL. They aren’t even an interview as it isn’t a two way street. You are trying to sell yourself to a company, and then they get to judge you based on how comfortable you are in front of a camera (not a requirement for most jobs) and your appearance which is plain old discriminatory. Talk to candidates on the phone instead of making them film themselves without the ability to have a two way dialogue.
AVOID.
