I went through three rounds of interviews with the company - starting with an initial screen with their People Ops lead, followed by a take-home assignment and mock kickoff call with their Head of Client Marketing, and concluding with a final round with the CEO, CTO, and Head of Revenue Operations. In the end, I was completely ghosted. It’s now been over a month with no updates, despite following up multiple times with their People Ops lead.
I understand they don't have a fully built recruiting infrastructure yet (which, ironically, is what this role was meant to build), but it takes less than a minute to send a quick update or even a rejection. As a fellow recruiter, I want to offer a bit of advice: candidate experience matters. It’s one of the simplest, most effective ways for early stage startups to build a strong reputation and differentiate themselves in a competitive market. At a minimum, candidates deserve timely communication and transparency throughout the interview process. If you're asking someone to invest hours meeting with your team - AND complete a take home assignment - it's simply professional courtesy to close the loop, regardless of the outcome.
Unfortunately, despite having some great conversations with their team, this experience has left me with a negative impression of the company.
