      Interview

The interview process involved two initial screens with the hiring manager, followed by one onsite interview and a presentation. The scheduling throughout felt a bit disjointed between gaps in responses and confusion about an onsite or virtual "onsite" interview. Additionally, what I thought would be a call to arrange the onsite interview with a recruiter unexpectedly turned into an interview. After that conversation, I waited a week and eventually had to follow up myself to confirm the onsite scheduling. The onsite experience was mostly pleasant. The coordination team was welcoming and helpful. In my conversations, some interviewers felt rigid in their questioning, appearing to seek "right" answers over an understanding of how candidates approach problem-solving, strategy, or philosophy. Based on the team’s examples, I sensed some level of micromanagement from the CEO. In my most disappointing interaction, the interviewer frequently interrupted my answers to redirect to a different question or add multiple probing questions at once and rushed me along in my answers seeming to not care about any context. She mentioned wasting time interviewing unqualified candidates (not sure if she was talking about me at the moment, but it sure felt like it) and came off frustrated with the current state of the team and eager to just hear the "right" answers. This “firing squad” style of interviewing and her tone/attitude throughout the interview made me question whether I’d even want to work in that environment. She also spoke dismissively about the need to "get rid" of underperformers across the org, with little empathy or focus on development. Despite this, I gave the overall experience a Neutral rating, as most other team members were warm, engaged, and well-prepared.

      Interview

I had a recruiter screen, take home assessment, virtual onsite interview. Overall, this company was a walking red flag. While most of the interviewers were pleasant and the questions were what you would expect for this type of role. I noticed several of the interviewers flagged some concerning cultural issues with the company. On one hand, it's good that they were transparent with candidates coming into the environment, but it really struck me that they didn't seem to have very much interest in changing some of these things and continually blamed the current recruiting team's aptitude. Multiple interviewers described that the hiring teams and recruiting team were against each other. One interviewer actually mentioned that they didn't have good leadership in place and there was a lot of internal turmoil. After a long day of interviews I came away with a negative feeling about this company culture and the way they were responding to the issues they raised. The internal recruiting process was also really sloppy, recruiters didn't really seem to know very much about what they were looking for or how to prepare candidates. It seemed like they were trying to push as many candidates through and hope that something stuck which is unfortunate because they asked a bunch of people to commit and prepare for 3.5 hours of interviews. Not a good look
