Once you submit the online application you get to do couple of psychometric tests. I applied two days before the closing of application date and got a call for phone interview just after the deadline. The phone interview was a generic one which was based on competencies like achieving results, continuous improvement, initiative, innovation, creativity, flexibility, globalisation, teamwork.
Assessment centre included three tasks. They first divided us into two groups of 4. My first task was the the analysis-based interview. They gave us a booklet with a lot of case studies (related to installation of smart meters in the UK) we had to go through different sets of data and decide which department within SP would require re-structuring. All information was provided in the booklet and you have to read and come up with talking points in 45 mins (can't remember if it was 1 hour). once your time is up , a manager comes and take you to the room where you're given 10 mins to present which departments you will restructure. After this, managers have 15 mins to ask you questions.
The interview was taken by two managers, one had electrical background and the other had mechanical background. The interview started off with generic competency based questions. towards the end they asked two technical questions. The whole interview process lasted for 1 hour.
The last task was the group exercise. we were given booklet with three different prospective renewable energies that SP is looking to invest in. As a group we had to decide which energy source is better.
The whole process was straightforward. I found the company unprofessional as far as communication with candidates is concerned. They never replied to any emails that I sent them and I haven't heard from them at all regarding my assessment centre.
