      Technical Engineer Interview

      Dec 18, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Sectra in Nov 2024

      Interview

Initial screen, chat with hiring manager, group presentation, interview with CEO in Sweden. I was excited about Sectra initially but after seeing how things work internally, I'm thinking I seriously dodged a bullet. While nice, the individuals I worked with seemed very disorganized. I got two initial emails from the recruiter, not realizing she already reached out to me previously. I also got sent a meeting invite with no actual meeting link. In line with other reviews, I almost wondered if this was part of the interview process to see how I handled their incompetence. The vast majority of interview questions they asked were banal and seemed unrelated to anything. Ask me something technical, asking me what I would do if I woke up and there was no gravity is literally a waste of everyone's time. Four out of five people didn't attend my group presentation on "The Future of AI in Healthcare" due to a last minute audit. Then after a 15 minute chat weeks later with one of the people who couldn't make it, they decided to proceed with other candidates. Do you think this 15 minute discussion involved asking any questions about my presentation? No, it was basic interview questions like it was the very first time they talked to me which threw me off. It took two months to get from initial reach out to a form letter denial, which is somewhat insulting after working with a group for literally months. No information about why I wasn't a suitable candidate other than "at this time your skills and experience.." etc. If you are technically adept at all, you can likely do much better than Sectra.

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Sectra (Shelton, CT)

      Interview

I was auto rejected. Don’t bother with these people they ask lots of application questions and their rejection message offers zero consideration of the effort you may put into your materials. It’s actually extremely disrespectful how little they value the thought you put in to answering their application questions.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked several very lengthy questions in the application.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Sectra in Jul 2025

      Interview

The interview process was heavily front-loaded with assessments before providing a clear or detailed job description. Candidates are expected to complete multiple evaluations—including technical and/or personality assessments—early in the process, often without a solid understanding of the role’s responsibilities or expectations. In my case, I asked for a more complete job description before proceeding with the assessments, but instead of receiving one, my application was closed without further consideration.
