I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sephora (Garden City, NY) in Sep 2015
Interview
It was a 3 part interview process. First interview was an easy group interview during a holiday hiring event in September to hire both permanent cast members and seasonal for the holiday season. I first applied for a seasonal cashier position. From there they picked a few people for a one-on-one interview for another date, I had with a Specialist, Monica who was amazing and easy to talk to but still asked great challenging questions. She expressed that she really liked me and my answers to much that she wanted me to apply for a full time permanent color artist position instead and had me on the spot do a makeup demo. From there another manager had me apply makeup to another employee and teach her step by step how to do the other side (just like their mini makeover services). From there they had me schedule an interview with the store director. The interview with the store director was really just an informal interview to just meet her face to face and talk about availability and pay negotiation. I asked for $14 and they gave it to me. I received an email with an official job offer later that week and I accepted.
Friendly, lots of question and hypothetical situations in regards to customer service. Makeup portfolio was appreciated. Focus is on product knowledge and friendliness. Asked about retail background, what trainings I would be interested in. Also how hard I am willing to work to move up into a management position. Also my timeline I expect to management.
