I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify
Interview
First a technical assignment was required - this could've been done rather quickly, but I personally spent more time on it in an attempt to more fully showcase skills. After only a couple days they had reviewed the assignment and the recruiter invited me for two 1hr interviews, both 1 on 1. The first was the "life story" interview with the recruiter, very informal and low pressure. Went by quickly. The second was problem solving based with a senior person on the data team. Overall a positive experience and I hope to reapply in the future.

Opening questions on technical portion were: What is a median? How would you go about calculating a median from a dataset too large to store in memory?
Recruiter call - why shopify and describe expected salary, describe one project you most proud and other stories and shared the interview process for technical round and onsite and prepare for your life story

Interviewed with the hiring manager, really weird experience because it felt like an info session for me to ask questions. Whole thing was done in about 20 minutes with the guy being distracted by Slack messages.
It came off like they already filled the role before this interview

Interview
An unnecessarily long pre-interview process that requires an assessment test, a ridiculous survey with 100 questions, and 1 hour pointless life story, although easy, was annoyingly long and took away from the interview experience.
