I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify in Feb 2023
Interview
After being moved around different sales orgs for interviews (3 different ones) they made me go through each process 3 times. I did something like 9 interviews only to tell me they moved forward with a different candidate. The most telling thing I can tell you about this processes was sales panel interview with a couple of sales leaders. So many red flags...
1. both sales leaders started the call looking disinterested an unengaged
2. only one of the two interviewers were asking questions
3. you can tell they were just rushing to get off the interview from the beginning without even having spoken to me
4. No questions at all about my sales experience and successes
5. You could tell they were underqualified for their roles and the questions asked were more along the lines of "are you going to take my job"
6. after walking them through my account plan, you can tell they didn't do any serious account planning before nor were they familiar with proper sales processes or any established sales methodologies
Overall this experience was poor. Like many others here, I found the interview process to be unnecessarily long and found the management to be uninterested in the process.
If you really want to work here as an AE here's my recommendation:
If you're a good sales person, don't show how you can outshine the immediate management however unintentional that is. In my account plan, I was very detailed in my approach as I am in my sales process, and it was clear they haven't seen this before, so don't include anything that would make these managers feel that you're teaching them anything. And finally, really suck up to the managers and play to their egos.

Question 1
Would you use this account plan for every sales no matter how big or small?
I attended screening round after submitting the online application. Generally after one to two weeks. But i felt the process was not clear enough, but I can feel the stressful environment after layoff.
Game then screening the. discovery and then life story. Nothing too complex but unnecessary steps. The interviewer were wanna be entrepreneurs who are far from that. That is the overall process.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Calgary, AB) in Sep 2025
Interview
They asked basic questions and was a fact collecting session vs an interview. Not personable experience with interviewer. Would not recommend if any insight into company behaviors. Long interview process with many steps, recommend one ensures they really want the role before committing to process.
