      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Sibylline

      Interview

I was contacted by email shortly after applying and asked to have a brief interview with their recruiter. I’d like to add to the chorus of people criticizing this company for their lack of communication. How do you operate an intelligence firm and completely lack this fundamental quality? It’s shocking, until you realize that it’s not worth thinking about because that’s about as much thought as they’re giving you—none. Anyway, on with it. I responded very quality and gave my timeframe as requested. I didn’t hear back for several days so I contacted the rep again, to which an apology was given and I looked past it. A new job could be exciting? So why not. It was then scheduled a few days later, I showed up, and so did my interviewer, and I say this considerately while also wanting to give an accurate picture, looking disheveled. Then again, my camera was blurry (it wasn’t when I tested this after, so who knows). At any rate, it was a poor start on both accounts but I tried my best. The interviewer remarked “that’s not good” when I said my camera couldn’t turn on. It should’ve just ended there. What I read in the job description did not exactly align with what I was told, and explaining what I’m looking for in my next role before hearing the job description felt a bit like a come on. In other words, it would’ve been nice to say “oh yeah! That’s what I’m looking for” or similar rather than the interviewer tell me there is no way, under no circumstances, would I be writing intelligence reports so if that’s what you want to do then forget about it. Which I do appreciate, but it was another disorienting aspect of this. I decided to continue with the interview to hear the role out. And in the end, they too ghosted me. For all the time applicants put into filling out applications, tailoring their resume, considering working for a particular company, and everything else—it is demoralizing to be treated with such disrespect. This company needs to get their act together, especially if they claim to be interested in “employee development” You deserve better. Avoid this.
