I interviewed for the position even though I didn't have experience working at a law firm, because the posting said that such experience was preferred, not required. I made it through the screening, the hiring manager phone interview, I did a personality test and an Excel skills assessment, and finally did an in-person interview with the team. I rescheduled other job interviews specifically to meet with Sidley. According to the recruiter I was working with, I did great at the interviews and got great feedback. Only for them to not give me an offer because the decided they wanted someone with experience in a law firm after all. If they knew they wanted that kind of experience to be required and not just preferred, they should have just said so from the beginning and not wasted my time, because I went through so many hoops and postponed a lot of other opportunities for nothing thanks to them.
