I recently engaged in a comprehensive interview process with Simplisafe for a position that, ultimately, was promoted internally. While I understand the company's prerogative to prioritize internal talent, the experience left me feeling somewhat disheartened.
Throughout the interview stages, I invested substantial time and effort to exhibit my qualifications, expertise, and commitment to contributing to the company's objectives. I valued the opportunity to interview for the role and appreciated the insights gained through the process.
However, upon learning that the position was offered internally after a prolonged interview journey, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment. Though internal promotions are commendable and understandable from a company's standpoint, candidates who invest in the process anticipate a transparent and equitable consideration.
While I respect the company's decision to prioritize internal talent, I would have appreciated more timely communication or clarity during the interview process. Greater transparency regarding the possibility of internal promotion for the role would have allowed candidates to manage their expectations better.
I believe that a more transparent and communicative approach would not only benefit external candidates but also foster a stronger candidate-company relationship. It would help candidates better understand the organization's commitment to internal growth while maintaining fairness and transparency in the hiring process.
