      Flight Attendant Interview

      Interview

I currently work for Skywest and wanted to restate some of the many great points for a successful interview found here on Glassdoor. PLEASE dress the part! We are constantly shocked at the choices of interview attire that some candidates select. Remember that you are interviewing for a 'uniformed' position. Most uniforms are navy blue or black...with a straight skirt...not too short, or pants, and a blazer and for men a tie is manditory! This is not the time to show your 'fabulous' sense of style...show them how you would look in their uniform! Hair in a conservative style...pulled back, if possible...as that is required of all FAs during service on flights. Short, short skirts are an automatic 'no'. We want to hire women and men who wish to be viewed and respected for their professional attitude and professionalism. All FAs must wear stocking when wearing a skirt so...do so if that is your selection. FAs are never allowed to wear 'sling back' or open toe shoes...though most recruiters won't make that an issue during the interview process. At Skywest, you must be between 5' & 6' tall for safety reasons so you will be asked...after sign in, to remove your shoes and stand up against a tape measure to verify that you are within that range of height. "VISIBLE" tattoos are not allowed. I have read several posts say that ALL tattoos are not allowed...not true...if your tattoo is somewhere that won't show when you wear a standard dress shirt...and you can raise your arms up and the first 4"-5" above your wrists are clear...you are OK. No one wants to 'check your body' for tattoos but you will be asked to put on a company uniform on day one of training and if any tattoos show...home you go! You cannot cover tattoos with make up, bandages or jewelry . This is a question of your personal integrity. I have had candidates offered an one-on-one interview and after we have stated our tattoo policy multiple times during the evening...and it is clearly stated on our website..they have sat down to begin their interview (sometimes after waiting a long time) and I see a wrist or finger tattoo that they are trying to hide with a watch or ring! The interview has to stop...their paperwork documented. You could have your entire body covered in tattoos as long as none show while in uniform. This is the policy of not only Sky West but of ALL of our mainline partners. Be prepared with your '60 seconds or less on Why You Would Make a Great Flight Attendant" speech...DO NOT talk about anything that is not related to your work experience or work attitude or ethic. We clearly state that you should not discuss your family life, marital status, etc. Once you 'disregard' that bit of instruction...most recruiters take points off for not listening and lack of professionalism. DO NOT TALK to others when a candidate is standing up, giving their 60 second speech. I guarantee that you will not be invited to a personal interview. Make sure you are not on your phone, texting or even looking at it when in the session. Just turn it off! FAs cannot have their phones even in view of passengers while on duty, so start now and show the recruiters that you are not 'addicted' to your phone! Make some new friends at the interview session. You never know...you might be rooming with someone you meet there, once you get to training! SkyWest is known for it's "Family" atmosphere and excellent training and I hope you become part of our family and this amazing career. I hope these tips help you to be successful at your interview because you are already ahead of the game by being a part of "Glassdoor". Looking forward to working with you in the clouds very soon!

It was a virtual one on one and after this process they alerted me of my training date a week later. The process was so pretty seemless and the company is good to work for but any little mistake you make you can be out.
