      Principal Product Manager Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Skydio (San Mateo, CA) in Aug 2024

      Interview

Applied online for role A, and got call from recruiter a couple days later and had a call. She was a pro. Early one she was already pushing me towards role B, I told her that I was not qualified for role B, but she said I might be because it was proving a tough role to fill. I then had 3 individual interviews over the next 2 weeks where it was clear they were pushing role B. Eventually I was told that they were looking for more deep experience for role A and B...I found it ironic since I was nearly twice the age of one of the managers I interviewed with and frankly their questions were not very probing. The org chart was indecipherable, clearly overlap everywhere. At a macro level, consumer has not worked for them, enterprise is not panning out, so it's down to law enforcement and military where their competitive advantage appears to be "we aren't Chinese so you have to buy us". 3 months later...both role A and B are still posted, so apparently they are looking for really deep experienced folks.
