I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Slalom (Portland, OR) in Mar 2016
Interview
Get the feeling that Slalom receives a bad review and then tries to cover it up with many positive reviews? Do not be fooled, the entire interview process takes 6 months. # phone screening with progressive seniority, then a day on-site with four back to back individual interviews. walk through the door and there is a staffing agency sign - not consulting signage. Taking candidates through a lengthy interview process shows that the company is not hiring top talent. It definitely is disrespectful of candidates.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standardized HR, tick the box questions. All about answering canned questions for managers with one year experience. Any questions you will ask for information will be minimized, not a two conversation like in well regarded companies.
Mostly standard consulting interview questions: ask about your past work experience, what were the difficulties and how you overcame these difficulties, etc. Overall process took a little bit longer than expected due to difficulty to get interviewers' availability.
Recruiter screening focused on background and fit, followed by a hiring manager interview assessing technical and consulting skills, and a final director round evaluating strategic thinking, communication, and overall alignment.
I applied online. I interviewed at Slalom (Santa Monica, CA) in Aug 2025
Interview
Initial HR interview then interview with hiring manager and then never heard again from the company. Reached out multiple times for follow up on whether moving forward or not, and never got a response. Job posting still on.
