I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Slalom (New York, NY) in Jan 2015
Interview
In a word, "conversational". They were more involved in getting to know the person. What makes you tick. If you will fit in or enhance the culture. Do you know your area of expertise, but support their values. You were introduced to various people across various departments and levels. It was wonderfully refreshing in contrast to a lot of other interview styles encountered in NYC and the Tri-State area. Everyone you met was honestly interested in you and your abilities and believed in the what they did and the company as a whole.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about your current or last project... successes, pitfalls, how to navigated the landscape. What would you have changed, or will repeat due to it's success?
Mostly standard consulting interview questions: ask about your past work experience, what were the difficulties and how you overcame these difficulties, etc. Overall process took a little bit longer than expected due to difficulty to get interviewers' availability.
Recruiter screening focused on background and fit, followed by a hiring manager interview assessing technical and consulting skills, and a final director round evaluating strategic thinking, communication, and overall alignment.
I applied online. I interviewed at Slalom (Santa Monica, CA) in Aug 2025
Interview
Initial HR interview then interview with hiring manager and then never heard again from the company. Reached out multiple times for follow up on whether moving forward or not, and never got a response. Job posting still on.
