I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Portland, OR) in Aug 2015
Interview
I was contacted by a Slalom recruiter regarding potential opportunities. I agreed to have a chat and was pleasantly surprised by an invitation for coffee rather than a simple phone call. The recruiter briefly assessed my skills, validated some information from my resume, but mostly concentrated on fit. After this meeting I was invited to their offices to chat with one of the managers. This was also an informal conversation with more specific questions regarding experience and skills. Lastly I was invited to interview with three managers, including the general manager for the office. These interviews were more formal, but the interviewers made the process very comfortable. I was asked some seeding questions that would get a conversation started on specific topics and what my experience had been in those areas. Once my experience and skills were established, the remaining time of the interviews was dedicated to fit -- values, culture, etc.
Mostly standard consulting interview questions: ask about your past work experience, what were the difficulties and how you overcame these difficulties, etc. Overall process took a little bit longer than expected due to difficulty to get interviewers' availability.
Recruiter screening focused on background and fit, followed by a hiring manager interview assessing technical and consulting skills, and a final director round evaluating strategic thinking, communication, and overall alignment.
