I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Smithbucklin (Chicago, IL) in Dec 2012
Interview
Very quick and fluid. Phone interview then interviewed with several employees in one day. They asked very basic questions. I met with 3 employees of varying degrees. There could have been more explanation of the culture and the role. Overall they were basic questions. Had a separate interview and the HR department is on an entirely different floor so you don't see the offices at all. Everything is super buttoned up, so if that's not for you then listen to your gut.
I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Smithbucklin (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2019
Interview
There was a phone screen interview, a Skype interview with the hiring manager, and an on-site interview that consisted of two 30-minute interviews with two different team members.
I was overall pleased until, after spending 8 weeks going through this process and it being made clear I was a top candidate and being in consistent contact with the team during the decision process, I never received a call to let me know I was not chosen for the position. It rubbed me the wrong way as it was an extremely long process and I committed a lot of time to it.
