Sonar Data Scientist interview questions

I recently interviewed for a Data Scientist position at Sonar and reached up to the technical round. The entire process was smooth and well-structured, with clear communication from the HR team throughout. 1st Round – HR Interview: The HR interviewer was very friendly and professional. The conversation went smoothly, mostly covering my background, experience, and motivation for applying. I was promptly informed about the next steps after this round. 2nd Round – Technical Interview: This was a 30-minute technical discussion focused on data science concepts. Topics included A/B testing, p-test vs z-test, and general deployment-related questions. The interviewer was knowledgeable and the questions were practical rather than overly theoretical. 3rd Round – Gorilla Test: This was a cultural fit assessment with situational and behavioral questions. It wasn’t technical, more about understanding personality and team compatibility. 4th Round – SQL and Python Assessment: This round had two parts: SQL: Required writing a query using aggregate functions (COUNT), INNER JOIN, GROUP BY, and ORDER BY. I was a bit out of practice, so writing from scratch was a bit challenging, but manageable. Python: Provided a survey dataset and asked to perform an analysis of my choice. The task was open-ended, meant to evaluate analytical thinking and approach. The difficulty level overall was not too hard, but it could be tricky if you’re not used to coding from scratch. Google search was allowed, but AI tools were not. Final Thoughts: The process was transparent and fair. The interviewers were professional, and the questions were relevant to real-world data science work. A bit of hands-on coding practice beforehand would definitely help future candidates.
