I had a really disappointing experience with SonarSource’s hiring process. I completed the Codility assessment, then had the first interview, and after that I was invited to a second technical interview, which took place on June 17. After the interview I followed up on June 24 and was told that feedback would be shared shortly. Then on July 9, I received an email saying I was “halfway there” and that only a few candidates make it that far. They invited me to the next step, a 2-hour technical interview, and asked me to send 5+ availability options. I replied the same day with several time slots for the following weeks. After that, I received no response. The dates I had shared passed, so after waiting 10 days, I sent another email on July 19 with updated availability and specifically asked them to confirm receipt so we could schedule properly. Again, there was no scheduling confirmation or clear update. Then on July 22, I was told that another candidate had reached the final interview stage and that they were pausing my process. I fully understand that a company can choose another candidate, that is not the problem. The problem is being told I progressed, being asked to provide availability for the next stage, then being left waiting without proper communication while the process moved forward with someone else. I invested time in the Codility test and multiple interviews, and the lack of transparency made the experience feel unfair and very frustrating. The people I spoke with during the interviews were professional, but the recruiting coordination and communication were really poor.
