      Marketing Interview

      Nov 20, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Sonar in Nov 2021

      Interview

No interview process. The company reached out to say they will not be moving forward. Please note that I apply to jobs every day as the market is viable, and sometimes things overlap. What I received from SonarSource was a very passive aggressive, unprofessional email from HR to note that I'd applied for similar positions and I was not selected to move forward. The HR representative was bold enough to leave their name to this message. It read, in part: "Thank you for sending us your application for the third time, and for your interest in SonarSource. Unfortunately, the position you applied for now is really close to the one for which we already rejected your application previously. Without any change on your side, we will not be able to move forward this time." This was unnecessary. An automated, generic email would have sufficed, but it is clear the HR representative went out of their way to be unprofessional and condescending. This reflects very poorly on SonarSource and not on me as an applicant. Ultimately, I hope that the HR Representative, acting on behalf of the company, does not repeat this behavior again to another candidate. I hope that instead they choose to be professional, as they ultimately represent how the company treats applicants and later, employees. I see that they absolutely have the potential to belittle employees who would be giving their time, effort and energy to work for them.

Dear Sir/Madam First of all, we would like to thank you for your feedback. It is highly appreciated and it is the way we can keep improving our processes and candidate experience. We acknowledge the negative impact our feedback had on you and we hear that this was not satisfying. We do apologise for this. In order to clarify, we want to share that this e-mail you received was, in fact, a template and not a customised message to you. This will be reviewed, because the objective was in no way to come across as condescending, only to inform that we decided to not move forward with your application today. We hope this information helps and please receive our best regards. SonarSource Hiring Team

Well-defined steps with lots of upfront transparency. The process can take time, but it's to ensure the company hires people that will really work well within its culture. You can tell that every part of the process has been optimized to create a dialogue between the potential employee and employer - they really want to know that the partnership will work out both ways.
