      Flight Attendant Interview

      Mar 7, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at Southwest Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Mar 2017

      Interview

Applied in September of 2016, received a phone interview in December 2016. I was contacted by phone again in February, 2017 and advised I would be contacted to schedule a F2F interview in Dallas. A week later I was contacted and the Dallas interview was set up for March 2017. When I arrived at their office they did fingerprinting and then took our group of about 15 into a conference room to give us the basic information about the position and a chance to ask questions. After this they had everyone sit in a mock jump seat and pull the harness belt and buckle it. Immediately after we all had to step through a mock emergency exit window. The y then brought each person individually into interviews. Mine was with a panel of 3 interviewers. As someone who has extensive airline background, including both inflight and ground positions, I will echo what some others have said in their reviews. This was the most negative airline interview I've ever been through. They focused on negativity and kept asking questions about previous co-workers who I thought were difficult to work with. What astonished me was they didn't just ask a question or two about this. They kept it up to seemingly almost trip me up into saying something negative. There was no friendliness displayed by any of the 3 interviews who were talking to me. The interview was tense, negative and a total disappointment. I remember thinking to myself, where is the Southwest "LUV" culture they always talk about? I have friends who I flew with at my previous airline who are flying with them and had different experiences when interviewing. Unfortunately I was very unlucky that day to get the interviewers I had. All three were long time employees. Do they not know that the company motto is LUV, friendless and making people feel welcome? As another person posted, this experience changed my perception of SWA and made me see them in a totally different light. It was a huge disappointment.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

"Describe a time when working previously as a FA that you dealt with a difficult coworker". When I said I did not recollect any specific occasions, they followed up by asking "You must remember as least one or two times when you dealt with a negative or difficult coworker when flying previously".

      Interview

The in person interview was a wonderful experience to me. I’ve interviewed with Delta and American for flight attendant and I can honestly say, I didn’t feel at ease with them like I did with Southwest. Because of this, I was able to relax. They made me feel like I was talking to a friend or family member. I felt very comfortable.
