I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at SpaceX (Hawthorne, CA)
Interview
4 Interview rounds, with 1 phone pre-screen followed by 2 phone interviews (Technical first then Behavioral) and a 5 hour onsite interview consisting of a brief tour of the main production floor, then a 30 minute presentation(Blocked out to 60 mins for questions). Afterwards I had 6 back to back one-on-one interviews with various members of the team with questions ranging from actual(how would you solve a problem with this part) to theoretical(how does an engine work?) to more about myself(Why are you the best fit for this job?). After this I was given a tour of the separate facility where I would work before being escorted back to the front desk and leaving. Was told I would receive a decision the week after but got an automated email on Saturday saying I did not get the job. Was not able to get any kind of response from the recruiter afterwards concerning any feedback which was pretty disappointing considering all the effort I put into everything prior.
I applied online. I interviewed at SpaceX in Jun 2026
Interview
I completed the initial 20- 30-minute call. This did not have any technical questions. I provided my portfolio and explained how certain projects fit this role. I was given the next interview and set up a time at the end of this call.
Phone screen with recruiter followed by two phone calls with engineers and then an on-site interview where you present a presentation on a topic of your choice. Also other technical interviews on site as well.
Got reached out to by a recruiter on LinkedIn. Setting up an interview time was easy. The first interview screening was basically describing your past experiences. The second interview is technical. Whole process took a week.
