      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Spin (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2019

      Interview

For context -- this is the first review of a company's interview process that I've ever considered leaving. If I can help one individual avoid the atrocious experience that I did, then this was worthwhile. I started speaking with Spin interviewing for a different role, and had completed three phone screens, two presentations, and the on-site presentation before things started to get a bit odd. Not one piece of constructive/negative feedback was received throughout the interview process. Two days of radio silence after the on-site, the recruiter asked if I would be interested in interviewing for this analyst role as well. It seemed as though this was a nice way of saying, "they rejected you for the first role", so I asked if I had been rejected from the first role. They told me "they were still waiting on a final decision" --- that was 30+ days ago. I began interviewing for the second role for the next 30 days. Keep in mind, at least two scheduled phone calls were no-call/no-showed by the interviewers thus far. Three weeks in, it became incredibly clear that Spin's motivation was to collect an abundance of presentations and analysis, while perpetually suggesting new roles in order to keep the materials coming. They received an operational model (excel) with a full presentation to unpack the data, two slide deck presentations for the first role + roll out pans, at least 6 phone screens and an on-site presentation. Additionally, I had passed the excel test and SQL test. The last person I was interviewing with even found it appropriate to invite me to an on-site, call me the week of the on-site, and casually mention they filled the role + suggest I enter the recruiting cycle for a THIRD role. The Business Development leadership, director, and interviewers cut off all communication after my on-site to this day. Only the initial recruiter had the decency to at least send a formal rejection notice 40+ days after the initial phone screen, and I had to get on the phone with her just to receive that.

Thank you for your review. I know how frustrating it is to go through multiple exercises as it takes time to prepare. I'm sorry you didn't get more notice and we were not able to move ahead. So often things move quickly and changes happen based on business needs, often with little warning internally as well. Our recruiting team strives to provide clarity and communication at every step. Your experience highlights an opportunity for us to ensure we stay in even closer communication with our partners on the business and operations team and to provide all the information we can when we need to change course. I really appreciate your time talking with our team. Thank you again for sharing your feedback.
