      Technical Support Engineer Interview

      Jan 25, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Splunk (Atlanta, GA) in Jan 2022

      Interview

So, of course, you have a recruiter call. Then an assessment. After that, an hr and 30-minute video interview with 3 individuals. They asked Linux, a scenario of an issue from start to finish that you have done, server, IP, and other network-related questions. I felt discouraged after the interview because most I did not know. I have not supported servers and things like that because I thought network engineers do that.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Splunk (Tokyo) in Jan 2025

      Interview

They made me wait for nearly 2 weeks after 3 rounds of interviews for an APAC position so they can compare me with other candidates who just applied without adequate feedback for the assignment and other interview feedback. I applied in January and was kept waiting for nearly two months. I spent more than 40 hours on a take-home assignment-an enormous waste of time. This employer was extremely disrespectful; if they thought I wasn’t experienced enough, they should have simply said no, rather than making me complete an unpaid take-home assignment that took over 40 hours, and then making me wait even longer without providing proper feedback. This was one of the worst interview processes I have ever experienced. They treated candidates poorly, using me as a benchmark to compare with late applicants. I was forced to wait longer so they could use me as a point of comparison. Overall, this company's interview process is quite lengthy due to an excessive amount of take-home assignments, which experts consider unfair when these tasks require a significant time investment. Splunk's take home assignment took for more than 40 hours to fully complete and learn all the tutorial materials to get started with.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Splunk

      Interview

It’s incredibly frustrating and unprofessional when an interview gets canceled at the last minute. My time and effort were completely disregarded, and it reflects poorly on the company's communication and organizational skills. I was fully prepared, set aside other commitments, and then received nothing but a vague cancellation. This kind of treatment makes me seriously question how they value their candidates and handle things internally.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The interview was canceled just five minutes before it was supposed to start, after I had spent an entire week preparing.
