Screen with recruiter was fine. However, five minutes after the screen, the recruiter sent me an email that was not only clearly a template but it was not even for the right stage in the process. It had five [INSERT NAME HERE] placeholders and referenced how much the hiring manager enjoyed talking to me and hearing about my background. Again, this was literally right after the screen with the recruiter. The interview support documentation listed incorrect steps for this role and also dated 2024.
Speaking with the hiring manager was great. The panel interview / mock training was fine. I had to include a practice activity as part of the training and one of the panel members just admitted to using ChatGPT for the activity instead of giving a genuine effort, which felt a little icky.
I did not get the job and got rejected by another template email. After investing a lot of time, talking to a recruiter, hiring manager, and panel, plus building and prepping a training, a phone call letting a candidate know would be nice. I also gave some feedback regarding the template email with the placeholders and the documentation so future candidates would not experience this. The feedback was met with excuses, defensiveness and condescension.
I asked for a way to provide official feedback on the process and if they could share feedback from the panel so I can improve for next time. For the feedback on the process, the recruiter said I should have received a survey from Greenhouse. I checked my spam and everywhere and didn’t get one. Let the recruiter know immediately. No response. I followed up the next day asking if there was a way to resend the survey and again mentioned that I would love to hear feedback from the team if possible. The response was “I would check your spam” and that’s it. Ignored my feedback request and just told me to check spam.
I told the recruiter I already did that because of course that would be the first thing I would do if I didn't see something in my inbox. The recruiter then responds "I just checked Greenhouse and they don't send the survey until seven days after notice." So, the recruiter who had been recruiting there for a while did not even know how the TA tool they were using worked and condescendingly told me to check my spam.
They would not provide any written feedback from the panel.
There was zero communication or follow ups in between interviews.
Absolutely nightmare experience dealing with the recruiter.
For a company trying to increase access to mental health services, this experience negatively affected my mental health.
