I applied online. I interviewed at Stantec (Chicago, IL) in May 2024
Interview
Applied online for this position, which required at least 3-5 years of experience. Was contacted two weeks later by an internal recruiter with the company to schedule a time to talk. Internal recruiter referred to me by the wrong name twice during email exchanges setting up a time to meet. Had the 20 minute screening interview with the internal recruiter, wherein it was explained that the role would be approximately 40-60% field work. This was followed by an hour-long Teams interview with a Project Manager and a Principal Consultant. During the interview, I had expressed that given my experience (3+ years in the industry) and career stage (10+ years of professional experience), I would ideally like the role to be less than 25% field work. It was explained that there was flexibility with the role based on my own career interests and I felt the interview itself was mostly positive. After the interview, the recruiter communicated that they were waiting to hear from the hiring manager whether additional staff would like to meet with me before moving forward. Two weeks after this interview, the recruiter emailed me to say they were no longer interested, and that my preference of less than 25% field work did not align with their need for someone willing to perform 75-80% field work, which was never communicated to me. Overall the process took over a month and I didn't reach the final interview stage.
