      Anonymous Interview Candidate

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at State Farm (Phoenix, AZ) in Apr 2015

      Interview

First interview was via phone. Second interview was about an hour and a behavioral interview. Went very well, was prepared and easily advanced to the last round of interviews which was supposed to be technical, but was only about 20% technical which really threw me off. Spent 3 days going over every technical question they could ask only to be asked questions about my history with a few technologies I never used that weren't on the job description. Ultimately I didn't give satisfactory answers because I was ready for a completely different set of answers. Kind of seemed like one of the guys didn't want to be there from the start. Like he was just their because he had to be and wanted to get back to his regular task. The Third round of interviewers didn't seem like they keep up with current HR practices for hiring. Either way my biggest problem was with how long the process takes. took 2 months from the application to the response and I passed on another offer waiting to see how this panned out. This is to be expected from big companies, but I think its a courtesy to let candidates know if they are not being considered anymore versus just letting everyone know after a hiring decision has been made. Either way most of the hiring process was great and I met some great people. Just really disappointed with the last interview and I definitely share the blame, but wonder what it would have been like if it was actually more technical.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at State Farm in Oct 2014

      Interview

Two group interviews. The first with HR representatives and one technical employee, was simply general behavioral questions. The second was with two regional managers and one technical employee. This featured more technical questions, but still mostly behavioral questions. The depth of technical questions were topics covered in very basic CS classes, such as data structures and databases.
