I applied online. I was asked to submit a hireview video after which I was asked to submit a work sample. My work sample was great. They invited me to a final interview that didn't go so well. They asked me to describe steps I would take in a modeling project which was already something they asked in the work sample. It felt like the interviewing team didn't review my work sample or didn't believe I created it. Then a panelist asked me to recite from memory python statements I would used to perform certain task to manipulate data when, again, data manipulation was a specific skill tested in the work sample. Rest of the interview was mostly behavioral. At some point one manager simply exited the call before the interview was over which was super unprofessional With hindsight, she made up her mind right then. My fate was sealed since I suspect she was the person to whom I would have reported. It's great that they have technical work samples to objectively gauge applicant' skills, but at the end of the day, it still comes down to whether the hiring manager likes you. Nothing new.
