I responded to an add for Step2 that was on a Career web site.
I was fully qualified for the position based on the description,
qualifications and skills required as posted. My credentials and
years of experience matched the requirements 100%.
I went through 3 phone interviews that took about 30 minuets to
an hour each. This was then followed by (4) four on site interviews
with Step2 at their facility in Streetsboro, OH.
Eight times I took off work to accommodate their schedules at my
own expense for the phone and on site interviews. The interview
process took approximately 2.5 months (10 weeks) between their
first call to me and my last interview.
At the last on site interview I was told that I would hear from them
soon and please not take any other job offers because I was to be
offered a position.
I waited a week to hear from them and then contacted them only to be
told that they wanted to wait another 2 weeks until they make any
final staffing decisions.
I waited the two weeks and once again heard nothing from them.
I inquired through a friend at step2 what was going on.
They found out and informed me that they had hired someone else
but were waiting for him to start before notifying me that
they had decided on someone else in case he(the new employee to be)
received a counter offer and decided not to work at step2.
What an experience-
left me wondering about the ethics and business conduct of senior management.
