I applied through college or university. I interviewed at StepStone Group (Baltimore, MD) in Mar 2023
Interview
Only was asked to tell the interviewer about myself and wasn't asked any other questions. Seemed like they had already decided on another candidate before I interviewed. Overall a fine experience and the interviewer was nice.

Interview
Mostly behavioral, testing fit specifically with team within Stepstone. No hard technicals, but asked why you think secondaries is a growing industry. They seemed most focus on communication and interpersonal skills, however.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at StepStone Group in Sep 2025
Interview
First round was with a senior analyst, which was very laid back. The actual interview lasted maybe 10 minutes then a conversation for another 35 minutes. After that you'll receive a written assessment(typically 1-2 days after), which is very easy but they want you to explain everything. Then 2 more rounds with more senior members of the team. Overall, not a lot of touch points and ran through HR. They don't do much direct investing if that is what you're looking for.
Several rounds of mostly behavioral interviews as well as a written assessment testing general finance knowledge. Towards the end I got more specific VC and market knowledge questions. Overall great experience.
