Talent Acquisition Manager, reached out to me on LinkedIn. After reviewing my CV and portfolio, I was invited to a screening interview that lasted only 15 minutes.
Later, I received a generic rejection saying the team was looking for someone with more relevant experience. This was confusing, as my background matched the job description perfectly, and I even had more technical skills than the role required.
The interview felt too rushed, and the questions were very surface-level. It seemed like the recruiter was simply checking boxes rather than trying to understand my actual experience, design skills, or how they could apply to the role. Unfortunately, no specific feedback was provided.
My advice: the recruiter doesn't have enough knowledge to properly assess creative roles or hard skills. People with real design experience should be present at the interview and lead the conversation, or make the job description specific enough to reflect what you're really looking for. Otherwise, you're wasting everyone's time.
