This was by far the most unprofessional and unorganized interview processes I have ever experienced. Throughout the three month process, I had 4 interviews and one writing assignment, speaking with 8 employees overall. About half were pressed for time or uninterested in interviewing me, with one in particular being openly disdainful and seemingly trying to “trick” me with uncomfortable questions. It was clear that Stripe’s recruitment process is deeply broken. They so desperately want to be seen as the anti-tech bro, but overextend their recruitment process beyond what is efficient, effective, or respectful to candidates, making it abundantly clear throughout that they think they are better than you. On one occasion, I did not receive a follow up on an interview for three weeks after the date on which I was told to expect a response despite numerous (unanswered) follow up emails. In fact, I don't think any of their processes happened when they said they would. I really wanted to like this company because the product is interesting and the opportunity seemed like a good one but would not recommend this process to my worst enemy. I want to emphasize that most everyone was friendly, but quite a few seemed like they would rather be doing something else, which is not uncommon but definitely frustrating. Most worrisome, however, was that they strung me along for almost 3 months, often waiting until the last minute to address scheduling, and then were uncooperative regarding receiving meaningful feedback.
