I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Stripe (Seattle, WA) in Mar 2023
Interview
Screener with recruiter, interview with hiring manager, take-home assessment. First two interviews are mostly behavioral, didn't make it to final rounds. I received a data set for a take-home assessment and was told to do some tasks (clustering, classification) based on it, then provide a written report. It wasn't necessarily difficult, it just didn't take the 4-6 hours they recommended, more like 10-12 hours. Received generic rejection email with no feedback on take-home assessment a couple days after submitting it. For the amount of time candidates put in, it would be professionally courteous to provide feedback as to why. Lesson learned: don't do take home assessments.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself. Tell me about a technical project you worked on.
Got the standard HR screening and an interview with a hiring manager. Then was given a take home case assignment. They said it would take <8 hours; it ended up taking nearly double that. A lot of time was spent trying to open their data files (given in 1m+ row Excel files). You synthesize and write a proposal document to submit for review.
sql, take home test with coding, stats. mixture of different assessments all in one day.
task related to modelling of customer spend freqency/churn, was also asked about competencies, and ab testing.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Stripe (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2025
Interview
I had a screening call with a senior, turned out he’s not the hiring manager. Then, I had a take home assignment. Then, they just told me that there’s no team that matches with me, and I just have to wait.
