Stripe Technology Finance & Strategy interview questions

Overall terrible experience. Initial phone screening with HR and video interview with hiring manager were prompt and positive - no surprises. The process crashed and burned with the case study. The assignment was arbitrary and contained exercises completely irrelevant to the role for which I applied. Nonetheless, I spent an inordinate amount of time compiling a multipage Excel workbook and 4-page written response as explicitly requested by Stripe. I received an instantaneous rejection email from HR upon submission of my completed assignment. It is virtually impossible my work was even reviewed, given the immediacy with which I received HR's response. My best guess is Stripe had already identified another candidate and was simply waiting for me to turn in the assignment to break the news. Regardless, the outcome was a substantial waste of time. Extremely inconsiderate.
