Interview
I was presented with a hypothetical scenario and asked to describe my thought process as to how to tackle the issue(s). Fine, this was not particularly difficult and was designed to test analytical skills rather than any substantive knowledge. However, the two junior attorneys who conducted the better part of the interview (before the General Counsel popped in for less than 10 minutes) acted as if they had someplace better to be. At no point during the 30 minute interview did either attorney crack a smile. Not once. This was the most odd and off-putting experience I have ever had in my professional career.
Practice different Hypotheticals (such as what would you do in a certain situation) and it is a virtual interview for the first 2 rounds, so have a quiet place to conduct the interview
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Success Academy Charter Schools (New York, NY) in Jan 2014
Interview
Somewhat strange interviewers for S.A.'s attorney positions. First a junior attorney asked me odd questions about my law school transcript (only time I have experienced this for a job well past law school). But OK fine, he was probably inexperienced and a bit clueless. But this was more surprising: S.A.'s general counsel interviewed me, and tried to show her "knowledge" on a securities law matter (relating to prior experience I had). It was rather funny, because she insisted that the NASD still exists, despite my repeated attempts to explain to her that it was replaced by FINRA. A bit fed up with the process, I informed her that she could Google it, and that I hoped she'd be more informed about charter school law. Needless to say, I did not return for another visit.
