I applied online My first call was with a HR rep who asked me about the job and my background. She mostly wanted to know why I was interested. I tried then to ask about salary but she wouldn't discuss that with me. It was a 15 minute phone call. I was then scheduled for an in-person panel interview with 4 people (but it ended up being 3 after one guy called out sick); this took about 45 minutes but they round-robined a bunch of questions about how I would handle scenarios like a difficult customer or working with multiple departments to get things done. After my interview, I was given 20 minutes to write down answers to a scenario of a worker's compensation injury and how I would investigate it and reserves for that body part. About a week after my in-person interview, I got a call from the person that would have been my direct supervisor (since he was absent from the in-person meeting) because he wanted to feel me out and get to know me more. He wants to ask me about my hobbies, what I knew about Sutter Health as an organization, and confirm that I knew that this wasn't going to be an upgrade from my current job. I, again, tried to ask about salary since it wasn't posted online. I got a call a week after that with a job offer but once salary was discussed (which apparently they offered me middle of the payscale), I wasn't able to take it because it was too low.
