      Analyst Interview

      Nov 16, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at TXU Energy

      Interview

The first phone interview was poorly setup and displayed a clear lack of commitment from the hiring manager to the quality of the interview process. The second interview was a panel interview that ended up being the WORST interview experience in my 15 years of working. The first red flag was when the panel focused more on my schooling than my work experience and attempted to use it to undercut my actual work experience and accomplishments. The second red flag was when they engaged in borderline verbal abuse from members of the interview panel when they tried to turn my schooling from a over a decade ago into a big reason why I might be incapable of doing the functions of the job. It was an astonishing display of preference for specific academic training from well over a decade ago, while blatantly disregarding work experience that directly tied to the position I I was interviewing for. If my academic career was a non-starter for them, why did they waste everyone's time in setting up the interview? As if all of that was not bad enough, the hiring manager claimed he didn't remember if we talked about compensation expectations in the first call. After providing my expectations, as I did in the first call, the other members on the panel were clearly taken off guard and the hiring manager turned on me and said that wasn't what we talked about in our call, even though he had just said he didn't remember if we had talked about it. Another major red flag of not only a bad company, but a terrible boss hiding in the grass like a snake. It didn't stop there. The panel then told me that they had a solid understanding of market value, claiming they were among the top, and told me the top figure they were willing to pay. It was crazy low compared to other offers I received. The company said they would followup with me and never did. This was the worst, and most unprofessional interview I have experienced to date. It's amazing that these are the types of people TXU places in their management positions.

      Question 1

I don't remember if we talked about this on the phone or not, but what are your compensation expectations.

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at TXU Energy (Dallas, TX) in Apr 2018

      Interview

Phone screening was odd - HR seemed rushed and a bit unprofessional but that seems to be the norm these days. Site was a bit depressing in decor so that was a downer but interviewer was cordial. Seemed to be a very formal atmosphere. People dressed casually but it didn't feel casual. Interviewer was fine but I didn't feel comfortable there.
