      Group Manager Interview

      Jun 7, 2013
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Minneapolis, MN
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Minneapolis, MN)

      Interview

Submitted resume online, received call 2 weeks later for phone screen. Prepped for the phone screen as I would have for a face to face. Had down mission, stats and read current PR on company. Prepped with the job requirements and with the behavioral interview questions as well.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Questions about strengths, weaknesses, greatest accomplishments, roadblocks. Why do I want to leave my current job? What do I know about Target's culture? What are my salary requirements? Not any questions regarding the position and my skills. It lasted 30 minutes and was fairly conversational. The interviewer was courteous. Within 5 days, I got a call saying they chose to move forward with another candidate. I didn't receive any feedback, or explanation which I thought quite rude especially considering the amount of time I dedicated to pursuing this opportunity.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Target (Seattle, WA) in Dec 2015

      Interview

They ask basic interview questions. They explained STAR format to me before asking questions, which felt like a waste of time because I already knew it. The recruiter was very nice. After completing the phone interview I took an online assessment that took about 1.5 hours. The assessment has one timed section and the rest are unlimited. After the assessment they don't give you feedback.

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Target

      Interview

The entire process took 3-4 months with 7 separate interviews and over 10 interviewers. It was a long process but not really difficult. Mostly getting to know you type questions for culture fit and then many behavioral questions, i.e. Tell me about a time when... Mid-way through the process included a case study and mock 'coaching' meeting with a direct report over the phone. Through out the process a recruiter stays in touch to support and answer any questions.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Behavioral questions, i.e. Tell me about a time when you... Themes focused on communication skills, team and collaboration, leadership, adaptability, drive, time management/prioritization abilities, etc.
