I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Target (Los Angeles, CA) in Jul 2013
Interview
I was interviewed, and eventually hired, for an entry-level cashier position. The interview process was very straightforward and not stressful. I met with first an HR rep who asked me about my availability. I explained my situation with school and she was very candid and nice. Waited for a bit then was interviewed by the hiring manager. This was the "real" interview. Again, she was very nice. Asked fairly simple and common questions; "Name a situation in school/work where you had to overcome a difficulty.", "What would your previous supervisor say about you." things like that. Next I met with the head of HR who, again, was nice. She simply asked me about myself, what I'm studying in school, things like that. Overall it took no more than an hour and was not stressful. People at Target are awfully nice, which might throw people off but don't let it. Oh yeah, they have you watch a kind of training video. Pay attention because I was asked a couple questions from that. Sort of like a quiz but not too hard. Just pay attention.

Question 1
Most unexpected question was from the video I watched. Didn't think they'd expect you to pay attention but they do.
Was just a quick 10 minute call from the store manager, didn't take long at all. He asked if I had the availability he was looking for and if I could be punctual. Smooth process
It was overall very brief from applying to hearing back. Was just a day of meeting with a couple managers and talking through a cashier job. Nothing too out of the ordinary for a role like this.
It was interesting. Not hard at all, straightforward, and pretty open people. It was an okay interview and what you’d typically expect. So don’t stress stress it, I mean kinda try your best
