      Business Analyst Interview

      Jan 18, 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Minneapolis, MN
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Target (Minneapolis, MN) in Jan 2011

      Interview

I applied and never heard back from Target until 4 months later I received en email to set up a phone interview. After the phone interview she had me take some skills tests and a personality assessment. Then I had a follow up interview where I was asked STAR questions. You standard STAR questions, nothing out of the ordinary. After the second phone interview I received an email inviting me to a full day event for the final stage in the interview process. The full day interview is actually really fun and nothing to stress about. Everyone is extremely nice and you literally just need to be yourself. They fly people from out of town in and they take care of all traveling expenses. The day consisted of a few hours just learning about Target and the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, then you shadow someone on the job and eat lunch, Then you have two 30 min interviews which basically is the decision maker on whether you get the job or not. Finally there is an hour and a half mixer at the end and you just want to make a point to talk to the people who interviewed you. One suggestion that I have that I have only seen listed once here is to spend the extra bucks to buy a nice suit for the interview. First impressions (sadly) make a huge difference when the recruiters are meeting 40 plus people in one day. Try not to wear a black suit, 90% of attendees are wearing all black and you just blend in with the crowd. I purchased a nice gray suit for the interview and there was only one other person there wearing gray which I think helped me stick out in the crowd. Specific job title I now hold: Mechandise Planning Business Analyst

      Interview

It consisted of a phone screen with HR followed by 30-minute virtual interviews with three others. Overall, the process was pretty smooth. I was surprised there was no in-person portion.
